Three results of pet heart disease
Pet Heart disease in cats and dogs is a very serious and complex disease. The five major organs of the body are “heart, liver, lung, stomach and kidney”. The heart is the center of all organs of the body. When the heart is bad, it will directly lead to pulmonary dyspnea, liver swelling and kidney failure due to the reduction of blood circulation. It seems that no one can run away except the stomach.
The treatment process of pet heart disease is often three situations:
1: Most young dogs have congenital heart disease, but it needs to be induced at a certain age. However, because some sudden accidents happen early, this situation can often recover as long as sufficient, scientific and rigorous treatment, and can live like normal cats and dogs without taking medicine for a long time. It does not happen again until the function of elderly organs is weakened.
2: After reaching a certain age, organ function begins to weaken. Timely, scientific and sufficient medication and treatment can maintain the existing working state of organs, and most of them can live to the normal age of pets.
3: Some heart cases have no particularly obvious performance, and it is difficult to diagnose the type of disease subject to local examination conditions. Some standard drugs can not work, and the ability of domestic heart surgery is relatively weak (there are few capable large hospitals and experienced doctors). Therefore, generally speaking, surgery that can not work with drugs is also difficult to rescue, and usually leaves within 3-6 months.
Since the heart is so important, it is reasonable to say that pet owners should try their best to treat pet heart disease. Why are there many serious mistakes? This starts with the manifestation of heart disease.
02
Heart disease is easily misdiagnosed
The first common mistake is “misdiagnosis”.
Pet heart disease often shows some characteristics, the most obvious of which include “cough, dyspnea, open mouth and tongue, asthma, sneezing, listlessness, loss of appetite, and weakness after a little activity”. When it is seriously ill, it may appear to walk or suddenly faint when jumping at home, or slowly appear pleural effusion and ascites.
Disease manifestations, especially cough and asthma, are easily ignored as heart diseases, which are often treated according to respiratory tract and even pneumonia. At the end of last year, a friend’s puppy had a heart attack, which showed cough + dyspnea + asthma + sitting and lying down + listlessness + decreased appetite and low fever for one day. These are obvious manifestations of heart disease, but the hospital did X-ray, blood routine and c-reverse examination, and treated them as pneumonia and bronchitis. They were injected with hormones and anti-inflammatory drugs, but they didn’t alleviate after a few days. Subsequently, the pet owner’s symptoms were relieved after 3 days of treatment according to the heart disease, the basic symptoms disappeared after 10 days, and the drug was stopped after 2 months. Later, the pet owner thought of a reliable hospital that could judge the disease, so he took the test sheet and the video when the pet was ill and went to several hospitals. Unexpectedly, none of them could see that it was a heart problem.
The diagnosis of heart disease in the hospital is very easy. Experienced doctors can determine whether there is heart disease by listening to the heart sound. Then they can check X-ray and cardiac ultrasound. Of course, ECG can be better, but most hospitals don’t. But now many young doctors rely too much on data. They basically won’t see a doctor without laboratory instruments. Less than 20% of doctors can hear abnormal heart sounds. And there is no charge, no money, and no one is willing to learn.

Is it a recovery if you don’t breathe?
The second common mistake is to “prioritize heart disease.”
Dogs can’t talk to people. Only in some behaviors can pet owners know if they are uncomfortable. Some pet owners feel that the dog’s symptoms are not serious. “Don’t you just have some cough? Occasionally open your mouth and catch a breath, just like after running”. That’s the judgment. Many pet owners classify heart disease as light, medium and heavy. However, as a doctor, he will never classify heart disease. Heart disease can only die at any time when he is ill, and health will not die. When there is a heart problem, you may die anytime, anywhere. Maybe you are still active when you go out for a walk, maybe you are still jumping and playing at home the minute before, or you scream at the door when you come to the express, then you lie on the ground, twitch and coma, and die before you are sent to the hospital. This is heart disease.
Maybe the pet owner thinks there is no problem. Do we need not take too many drugs? Just take a little two. There is no need to use a full set of treatment methods. But in fact, every minute, the pet’s heart is getting worse, and heart failure is gradually aggravating. Until a certain moment, it can no longer recover its previous heart function. I often give some pet owners with heart disease such an example: the heart function damage of healthy dogs is 0. If it reaches 100, they will die. At the beginning, the disease may only reach 30. Through medication, they can recover to 5-10 damage; However, if it takes 60 to treat again, the medication may only be restored to 30; If you have reached coma and convulsion, which is close to more than 90, even if you use the drug, I’m afraid it can only be maintained at 60-70. Stopping the drug may lead to death at any time. This directly forms the common mistake of the third pet owner.
The third common mistake is “hasty withdrawal”
The recovery of heart disease is very difficult and slow. We may suppress the symptoms in 7-10 days because of timely and correct medication, and there will be no asthma and cough, but the heart is far from recovering at this time. Many friends are always worried about the side effects or adverse reactions brought by drugs. Some online articles also aggravate this mood, so they often stop taking drugs in a hurry.
All drugs in the world have side effects. It just depends on the severity of side effects and disease, which will lead to death. The lesser of the two evils is the right. Some netizens criticize the adverse reactions of some drugs, but they are unable to propose alternative drugs or treatments, which is tantamount to letting pets die. Drugs may increase the burden on the heart. 50 year old healthy cats and dogs could have jumped to the heart of 90 years old. After taking drugs, they can only jump to 75 years old and fail. But what if the 50 year old pet has heart disease and may die soon? Is it better to live to be 51, or is it better to be 75?
The treatment of pet heart disease must follow the methods of “careful diagnosis”, “complete medication”, “scientific life” and “long-term treatment”, and strive to completely restore the vitality of pets.
