Spayed or neutered dogs are recommended if not used for breeding. There are three main benefits of neutering:

  1. For female dogs, neutering can inhibit estrus, avoid unwanted pregnancies, and prevent reproductive diseases such as breast tumors and uterine pyogenesis. For male dogs, castration can prevent prostate, testis and other reproductive system diseases.
  2. Sterilization can effectively prevent fighting, aggression and other misbehavior and risk of getting lost.
  3. Neutering can reduce the number of stray animals. The recommended time for neutering is before first estrus for small and medium sized dogs :5-6 months of age, 12 months for large dogs. The risk associated with sterilization is primarily obesity, but can be controlled through scientific feeding of sterilized foods.
