Don’t give your cat away when it’s half-raised
1.Cats have feelings, too. Giving them away is like breaking her heart.
Cats are not small animals without feelings, they will develop deep feelings for us. When you feed, play and pet them every day, they will treat you as their closest family. If they were suddenly given away, they would feel very confused and sad, just as we would if we lost a loved one. Cats may suffer from loss of appetite, lethargy and even behavioral problems as they miss their owners. Therefore, the old man warned us not to give away easily, in fact, out of respect and protection of the feelings of the cat.
2.It takes time for a cat to adjust to a new environment, and giving someone away is equivalent to “tossing”
Cats are very territorial animals and they need time to adjust to their new environment. If they are sent from their familiar home to a strange place, they will feel very uneasy and fearful. Cats need to re-establish their security and become familiar with new surroundings, new owners and new routines, a process that can be stressful. In addition, cats may face some health risks as they adjust to their new environment, such as getting sick from stress reactions. Therefore, the old man reminded us not to give people, but also considering the physical and mental health of the cat.
3.There is a tacit understanding between the cat and the owner, giving someone is equal to “giving up”
When you spend time with your cat, you develop a unique bond. One look, one movement, you can understand each other’s meaning. For example, as soon as you get home, the cat comes running to greet you. As soon as you start to sit down, the cat jumps into your lap for a cuddle. This kind of understanding is cultivated by long time together, and it is very valuable. If you give your cat away, this bond will be broken, the cat will need to re-establish a relationship with a new owner, and you will lose this rare bond. The old man warned us not to give them away, in fact, he wanted us to cherish the tacit understanding between us and the cat.
4.Cats have a relatively long life span, so giving them away would be ‘irresponsible’
The average life span of a cat is around 12 to 15 years, and some can live up to 20 years. This means cats stay with us for a long time. If we give our cats away because of temporary difficulties or emergencies, then we are not doing our duty as owners. The cats are innocent, they did not choose to come to this home, but they have to take the risk of being given away. The old man reminds us not to give them away, hoping that we can be responsible for the cats and accompany them through life.
